WHAT KEEPS YOU AWAKE AT NIGHT?

Every day the news is full of devastation and loss. It seems no one is immune to the violence that surrounds us.

The fear may even threaten to paralyze you.

When faced with fear, you may be comforted by relying on someone else's strength and protection.

But can any person, group, or government really protect you from this chaos?

There is one place we can always turn...

The God of the Bible says this to those who love him and are called his children...

So, do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Isaiah 41:10

How can this be ?

So, is this claiming that those who trust God can live lives free of suffering and pain?

Not at all.

Then, what's the point?

Those who have become children of God through Jesus are able to express their faith and hope in him by saying…

"I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God's love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God's love."

Romans 8:38

Even though it's a fact that everyone dies, and it could be said that it's natural so you should just accept it… being torn away from this life and those that you love will never feel right.

If everyone is going to die, why does death seem so unfair?

The answer is found in the Word of God, the Bible. We were created not for death, but for eternity.

Yet God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God's work from beginning to end.

Ecclesiastes 3:11

The Other Side ?

Death was not part of God's original design. Humanity's disobedience created separation from the Creator. However, through Jesus Christ, God provided a path to eternal life.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

John 3:16

Hope Beyond This Life

Death feels unnatural because it contradicts our created purpose. Belief in Jesus eliminates fear of death and opens access to eternal life with God.

Every person has a different definition of what "success" means to them.

What if you never find or accomplish your purpose in life?

The pressure of living up to the expectations of others and yourself can be crushing.

You may seem to fail every day. So, what is the point of our existence?

Well, what if it's true that the only opinion that matters is that of our Creator God?

If so, then he made our ultimate purpose in life clear when he said:

You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. And, equally important, Love your neighbor as yourself.

Matthew 22:37, 39

Success redefined ?

Seeing life through the eyes of our Creator turns our idea of success and failure upside down. Our ultimate purpose is to know him, to love him and to love others.

Collecting achievements, material wealth and status is temporary and does not satisfy.

We are made for eternal things that reach beyond this life.

The only way to be connected to eternity is through a relationship with our eternal God.

This world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.

1 John 2:17

Finding the way

You can have all the outward signs of a successful life, but if you do not know and love God, you will find only emptiness in the end. Likewise, even when the world would define you as a failure, a relationship with God makes life rich and meaningful.

You are invited into a life with him that goes beyond this life. The invitation comes through Jesus, the Son of God, who is "the way, and the truth, and the life" (John 14:6).

Are you willing to find out how Jesus overcomes your failures to make this invitation possible?

There is a reason that so many movies and stories end exactly the same way.

Will you ever find the right person to spend your "ever after" with?

There is something so essentially human in the desire to love and be loved.

The idea that we will never love fully, or will never be loved, is therefore terrifying.

Here is some wisdom about love to consider.

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

1 John 4:18

Perfect love ?

Think of some couples that you know. Is their love perfect? Probably not… There is a lot that happens behind the scenes in all relationships.

Love is messy and flawed.

This doesn't mean that love is impossible or that two people cannot be happy together.

It means that two imperfect people can never create a perfect love and be free from fear.

But the good news is that perfect love does exist. There is a love that is whole, healing, and utterly beyond anything that we can imagine. It just isn't where we think it is.

For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:38-39

Finding the One

So you see, perfect love is found only in God. He is calling for you to be a part of that unstoppable love story. Neither death nor life, heaven nor hell can separate you from God's love if you trust Jesus and begin a relationship with him. You never have to fear losing that love.

Discover how the love you have been searching for is found in God and his Son, Jesus Christ.
